Voice commands

While you dictate with Speechy on your Mac, you can say punctuation like “comma” and “question mark”, start a new line, and fix mistakes with “scratch that” or “delete last three words”. Commands run on your Mac by fixed rules, so they work the same way every time.

How to use Voice commands

  1. Say punctuation

Say “comma”, “period”, “question mark” or “colon” where you want it.

  2. Break the lines

Say “new line” or “new paragraph”.

  3. Take it back

“Scratch that” drops your last sentence; “delete last two words” drops words.

  4. Make a word loud

Say “all caps” before a word to type it in capitals.

What you say, what it types

Questions

No. “Period”, “comma”, “colon” and “hyphen” only become punctuation at the end of a phrase, so “the trial period ends Friday” stays as words.

Say “delete last word”, or a number up to ten, like “delete last four words”.

No. They run by fixed rules on your Mac, before any polish.
