Smart polish
Smart Polish runs a writing model on your Mac after you stop talking, fixing what fixed rules can't: a missing comma, a quote, a correction you made without saying “sorry”. Turn it on with the Smart Polish switch on Speechy's Models page and choose Apple Intelligence, Qwen 3 4B or S1-mini. It only edits your words; it never answers or adds to them.

Questions
No. All three writing models run on your Mac.
Apple Intelligence needs no download where your Mac supports it. Qwen 3 4B is a 2.5 GB download and needs more than 8 GB of memory. S1-mini is 462 MB and English only.
If the model takes too long, Speechy types your cleaned up words without it, so you never wait on it.
Speechy still removes fillers and false starts and formats numbers, emails and links by fixed rules.
